Double linkage is one of the four principles of sociocracy.
Double linkage means that two circles are linked to each other, this link is consists of two people from one circle participating in the other cirle. These two people are the coordinator and representative. The representative brings information, ideas and suggestions from the subcircle to the main circle. The coordinator then reports back to the subcircle. This person also coordinates the activitiees of the subcircle. The image below illustrates this link.
Double linkage in sociocracy means there is strong communication between two levels: the main circle and its subcircles. This means that decisions made on one level are adapted tot he needs and knowledge of the other. This ensures better cooperation and decision-making. It also helps people to feel more involved in the organisation, because they make decisions together.
